Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use the Platform. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms.

Eligibility and your account

To contribute you need an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your login credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@meyabase.com if you suspect any unauthorised use.

Accounts are for individuals and are personal to you. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or that put the Platform or its data at risk.

The service

Meyabase Contribute lets contributors translate prompts, verify other contributions, record audio, and explore the collected data, to build open datasets for low-resource Namibian languages.

The Platform is provided on an ongoing, best-effort basis. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the Platform lawfully and in good faith, and in particular not to:

• Use the Platform in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation, or that is fraudulent or harmful;
• Submit spam, deliberately low-quality, nonsensical, or automated contributions, or otherwise manipulate rankings, verifications, or scores;
• Submit content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights;
• Submit text, audio, or other material that you do not have the right to contribute, or that contains other people's personal or private information;
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the Platform by automated means except as expressly permitted (the dataset is published openly — see below);
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to, disrupt, overload, or compromise the Platform, its accounts, or its infrastructure.

Your contributions and licence

When you submit a contribution (including translations, source texts, and audio recordings of your voice), you keep any ownership rights you have in it. You are responsible for what you contribute, and you confirm that you have the right to contribute it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

To make open language data possible, you grant M-Base Technologies (Pty) Ltd and the public a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use, host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, and redistribute your contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Your contributions may be included in datasets that anyone can use, provided they give appropriate attribution.

Your contributions and your display name may be shown publicly on the Platform — for example in the Explore corpus and on contributor leaderboards. Contributions are made voluntarily, with no expectation of payment.

We may review, verify, edit, reject, or remove contributions to maintain quality and comply with these Terms. Removing a contribution from the Platform does not affect copies already distributed as part of an openly-licensed dataset.

Platform intellectual property

The Platform itself — including the Meyabase name, logos, software, design, and layout — is owned by or licensed to M-Base Technologies (Pty) Ltd and is protected by intellectual-property laws. The open licence above applies to contributed data, not to the Platform.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform for its intended purpose. You may not copy our software or use our names or logos without our prior written permission.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or to protect the Platform, its users, or its data. You may stop using the Platform and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting support@meyabase.com.

Contributions already released under the open licence remain part of the published dataset after your account ends.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Platform is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the Platform will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of the Republic of Namibia, M-Base Technologies (Pty) Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless M-Base Technologies (Pty) Ltd and its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising out of your misuse of the Platform, your contributions, or your breach of these Terms.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date above. Your continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Platform, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Namibia, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
