Open language data for Namibia

Meyabase Contribute is a community project to build open data for low-resource Namibian languages. Most Namibian languages have little digital text or speech available, so modern language tools — translation, search, speech — do not serve their speakers well. We are changing that, one contribution at a time.

What you can do

• Translate — turn short prompts into your language, one card at a time.
• Verify — review contributions from others to keep the data accurate.
• Record — give the words a voice with quick audio recordings.
• Explore — browse the growing corpus of translations, source texts, and recordings.

Why it matters

Every translation, verification, and recording becomes part of an open dataset — built by the community, for the community. We publish contributed data under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, so researchers, developers, and speakers can freely build on it.
